Why Preloved Baby Clothes?

I’ve always loved babies. I may not be a parent myself, but as an aunt and the friend everyone calls the baby whisperer; I’ve spent a lot of time cuddling little ones, playing peek-a-boo, and watching them grow far too quickly out of their clothes.

But the real spark for Liefde 2.0 didn’t start in a nursery. It started while I was traveling.

In some of the most beautiful places in the world, I was heartbroken to see beaches and streets filled with plastic and waste. It felt wrong that our planet, this incredible home we all share, was being smothered in things we use once and throw away. I knew I wanted to do something that could help reduce that waste.

And that’s where baby clothes came in.

Tiny clothes, short lives

Babies grow fast, sometimes an outfit only lasts a few weeks before it’s too small. On average, a baby outfit is worn for about three months. The clothes are still soft, clean and full of life, but they often end up in a box, or worse, in the bin.

Passing clothes down is beautiful, but not everyone has a friend, sibling, or cousin to give them to. That’s why preloved shops like Liefde 2.0 matter, they make it easy to give clothes a second life.

Why I started Liefde 2.0

I started Liefde 2.0 to combine two things I deeply care about: protecting our planet and supporting families. By giving baby clothes a second life, we reduce waste, save parents money, and keep little ones dressed in clothes that are full of love.

Every item at Liefde 2.0 goes through a thorough inspection by hand. We check for quality, cleanliness, and comfort. Only pieces we’d proudly dress our own nieces and nephews in make the cut. After inspection, each item is placed into the right category. Our largest category is "As Good as New" — clothes that look and feel almost brand new, but come with a smaller footprint and a bigger heart, because sustainability should never mean compromising on quality or cuteness.
